Pumpkin Patch

The annual tradition of going to the pumpkin patch took place on October 13th. For those who know us, know that Michael and I have been going to the same pumpkin patch since 2001, we talk about going all year long. Genevieve really enjoyed it this year, as you can see from the pictures. We initially went to McClain's where we bought all of our pumpkins, then we went to Carmichael's to take all of the pictures you see below.

I couldn't get her to look at the camera to save my life! Oh well...

They had a petting zoo that she, of course, throughly enjoyed. Unfortunately she kept moving around so not many of those pictures came out, most ended up blurry.

I'll have to get some pictures of her and our new Halloween inspired Snoopy and Woodstock inflatable. She just loves that thing.

Michael's Birthday

Michael's birthday was Saturday, October 13th. I made him a cake that we all enjoyed, especially Genevieve. That night we all went out to Texas Roadhouse for dinner and then we were off to the pumpkin patch. All in all I think he had a good birthday. Genevieve kept singing "happy birthday to you daddy," it was too cute!

Potty time!

We bought Genevieve a potty on October 6th since we kept getting notes from daycare saying, "tried potty." She was so excited when we put it in the cart to purchase, she couldn't wait to go home and try it out. So as soon as we got home, Michael put it together and there she sat...but nothing happened. Several days passed and still nothing, until Thursday, October 11th when the magic happened! We were getting ready for her nightly bath when she said "I need to go potty." So she sat down on her potty and it wasn't a few seconds later that she went. I was so excited and then she got all excited. Unfortunately Michael had to work that night so he missed it, but we couldn't wait to call daddy and tell him all about it. Daddy was so proud he told everyone at the bank!

Binky free!!!

I am proud to announce that it has been two whole weeks since Genevieve has had a binky. The mission to rid her of her binky started two Sundays ago when we decided to see just how long we could keep it from her. During the first day I caught her on her step stool reaching into the kitchen sink trying to retrieve one, but she was unsuccessful. As the days passed, her requests for a binky became fewer and fewer. And here we are binky free at last! I just refused to have the kid that still has a binky at four years old. This is not only a huge victory for Genevieve but for us as well (who dreaded leaving the house without one). I'm so proud of my big girl!

Company Scavenger Hunt

On Friday, my company closed our office for the afternoon to have a scavenger hunt at the fair. Sound crazy...well it was. I was on a team of six chosen at random to run around the fair with trying to snap pictures of hard to find items. The harder the item was to find, the more points it was worth, and you could earn extra points if you could convince complete strangers to be in the picture with your team. I had two missions on this scavenger hunt, one was to have fun and the other was to win. Since my fabulous husband manages one of the many Arvest Banks in Tulsa, we were able to get gift cards as prizes for all of the teams. We had a great time running around the fair looking like maniacs. And oh yeah...my team did win! Go Green!

A few cute purchases

So last week I saw a few things that Genevieve just couldn't live without. One was a new jacket (seen below) that Michael and I found at Ross (of all places). I just couldn't pass it up, it was only $14 and reversible. What made it even better was that I didn't have to argue with Michael about buying it (he thought it was pretty cute too). Plus, it's not even cold yet and Genevieve loves wearing it around the house.
The other thing was a new diaper bag (seen below). I don't think it is necessarily a diaper bag, but that's what I've made it. Found this great buy at the fair for $6. I have been so excited about this bag until last night, when we were all at Garden Ridge and found bags just like it (but in different prints) for only $3. Good thing is that they are so cheap I won't feel guilty having several different ones!
